Depictions of pregnancy, abortion, & menstruation are becoming more and more common in theatre and film.
In this workshop, we will work through the physical realities of all things uterine and the ways that stories around pregnancy, birth, miscarriage, abortion, and menstruation can be told authentically and effectively. We will examine strategies for working with actors and productions and look at specific choreographic approaches.
This workshop will detail the physical and emotional circumstances of pregnancy, birth (cesarian and vaginal), miscarriage, breast/chestfeeding, medical and surgical abortion, abortion and reproductive care access in the United States, and menstruation.
The Staging Sex series is all about the choreography: physical storytelling, mechanics, tools, and techniques, grounding everything in adaptability, inclusivity, and a culturally competent context.
What you'll get:
- Three hours of live instruction
- A recording of the session to review or watch later
- One year of access to the Open Intimacy Community Forum
Participants must have a working knowledge of consent and boundaries before attending the workshop.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
